Card player shot in head, hospitalized; suspect sought

KINGS MOUNTAIN -- A 23-year-old man suffered a shotgun blast to the head during an argument over a card game early Friday, Kings Mountain police said. The victim, Chad Everette Summitt of 1543 Long Branch Road, Grover, was listed in serious condition at Carolinas Medical Center. Police were still looking for a suspect late Friday. According to police, the shooting occurred about 2:35 a.m. at a residence at 902-A Second St. in Kings Mountain. Police said Summitt and several other people were playing cards when an argument broke out. The suspect in the shooting left the residence and returned later with a shotgun, police said. There were no other injuries.
